April 2021:

I recently had the honor of serving as the guest speaker for the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education Induction Ceremony at Bay Path University. The purpose of this prestigious organization, whose name means “knowledge, duty, and power,” is to “promote excellence in and recognize outstanding contributions to education.” I presented “Five Tips for Being a Successful Teacher” to the inductees in the Alpha Eta Theta Chapter. The speech was based on my first book, 50 Things to Know about Being a High School English Teacher. I focused on the elements of my book that pertain to all levels of teaching, as the inductees are Early Childhood and Elementary Education majors. It was a true pleasure to help celebrate such an intelligent, motivated, and dedicated group of future educators.
